It’s Clive Rosevear Hawkey Cup quarter finals night in Cornwall.
Callington host Liskeard (New Road), Gorran greet Grampound Road (The Cricket Field), Wadebridge entertain St Austell (Egloshayle Road) and Werrington are at home to Menheniot-Looe (Ladycross).
All ties are set to start at 1800.
• Kelvin Snell top scored with an unbeaten half century as Paul won at Penzance in last night’s Vinter Cup second round tie at St Clare.
Snell made 53 not out as Paul scored 111-3 after bowling the home side out for 107.
Paul now visit Beacon (Tolcarne Road) on Thursday July 7, 1800 in the quarter finals.
• I have been asked why I put in the venues for sporting events - cricket for example - and the main reason is to familiarise the connection between clubs and their home grounds writes Ross Reid.
It is an old school style that I think might (possibly) help encourage “newcomers” to visit grounds they may not if they don’t have a clue where the host club plays.
I was always taught to spell it out . . . old habits die hard.
