Michael Coles’ Wiltshire CCC will aim to get back to winning ways against Suffolk in the Unicorns KO Trophy at Warminster today.
Wiltshire's winning star to the season came to an end when they lost to Bedfordshire at Dunstable by 38 runs in the Trophy last Sunday. The result means Bedfordshire qualified for the quarter finals probably as group winners.
Bedfordshire won the toss and made good use of the conditions to score 275-7 in their 50 overs with George Thurstance scoring an excellent 101 and Andy Reynoldson 61. For Wiltshire Tahir Afridi took 2-50 and Jake Lintott 2-44.
Wiltshire needed a good start but after 10 overs they had collapsed to 28-4. Sensible batting from Michael Coles (59) and Michael Bates (46) put on 102 for the fifth wicket and then Wadworth man of the match Afridi with 66 not out off 42 balls including an unbroken last wicket stand with Joe King (10 not out) of 55 took the Wiltshire score to 237-9. Dean Bryce took 3-42 and Andy Reynoldson 4-52 with Bedfordshire’s former England spinner Monty Panesar bowling his 10 overs for 33 runs.
