Paul Buckle's Bristol Rovers marked their first pre-season home match at the Memorial Stadium with a 2-0 win over Championship side Burnley.
Matt Harrold and his 61st replacement Eliot Richards scored for the Pirates, who have completed the signing of teenage defender Michael Boateng.
Buckle (pictured) has now made 15 summer signings since taking over the managerial reins at League Two Rovers earlier this summer.
Keith Millen's Bristol City won 2-1 at Cheltenham thanks to first half goals from Nicky Maynard and Marvin Elliott. Striker Jeff Goulding replied for Town in the second spell.
Yeovil Town continued their pre-season warm-up with a 3-1 win at Poole Town, where Steve MacLean was on target for the Glovers along with a trialist striker, who scored twice.
Mark Saunders' Tiverton Town gained their first pre-season win by beating newly promoted Southern League champions Truro City 3-1 at Ladysmead with goals by Jules Emati-Emati, Ian Sampson and Paul Kendall.
Conference South new boys Truro replied through a late Scott Walker penalty. Tiverton's next pre-season friendly is at home to Stoke Gabriel on Friday (1945).
Tonight Torquay United - who host Burnley on Saturday - take on Devon neighbours Exeter City at Plainmoor (1945) while Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Romain Larrieu celebrates his testimonial season with a Home Park match against Neil Warnock's Premier League new boys Queens Park Rangers (1945).
Bath City - who have just signed playmaker Alex Russell - host one of his former clubs, Bristol City (Twerton Park, 1945).
Russell, 38, played 12 games for the Romans last season before being snapped up by League One Yeovil Town. The popular midfielder joined Bristol City in 2005 after making over 150 League appearances for Torquay United.
