Plymouth Argyle manager Carl Fletcher highlighted the non-stop contribution of scorer Rhys Griffiths and winger Paris Cowan-Hall despite the Pilgrims’ 2-1 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon.
Former Llanelli ace Griffiths followed up his own saved spot kick to make it 1-1 in the 89th minute before Rashid Yussuff’s deflected stoppage time winner for the Dons.
Fletcher admitted: “We obviously let ourselves down in the first half and in the second half we went a bit more direct because we just weren’t at the races with our passing.
“We left it for a while in the second half to see how we got on, and we weren’t getting any joy so we changed it and I put Guy (Madjo) on.
“Even towards the end I had Guy, Griff and Nick Chadwick up there as well.
“It was a case of getting the ball forward as quickly as possible and seeing what we could pick up.
“We had a few half chances and eventually good work from Guy won us the penalty.
“I think their second goal got a deflection off Robbie Williams and then just floated into the top corner but I will have to see it again on the DVD.
“Paris and Griff were both playing non-League football last season but you can see what this means to them because they both worked their socks off, which was a positive point.”
Cowan-Hall, 22, joined Argyle from Woking in summer, while 32-year-old Welsh ace Griffiths transferred from Port Talbot Town.
