Kevin Nicholson’s new-look Torquay United FC will host Tranmere Rovers at Plainmoor on the opening day of the new 2017-18 National League football season, Saturday August 5 (1500ko).
Tranmere finished runners-up in the league last term and 3-1 beaten play-off finalists by another set of Rovers, Gloucestershire’s Forest Green at Wembley.

You could be forgiven for detecting a sense of unfinished business surrounding forward-thinking Gregg Wylde’s return to Plymouth Argyle.
Wylde’s last game in green was the Pilgrims 2-0 Wembley final play-off defeat by AFC Wimbledon but – via social media if nothing else – the popular 26-year-old Scottish winger has “stayed in touch” with Argyle’s promotion, new signings... and supporters.
