Truro City player-manager Lee Hodges is keeping his fingers crossed for a show of support for today’s home Blue Square Bet South game against Bromley (Treyew Road 1500).
Crisis club City are cast adrift at the foot of the Conference South table following a 10-point deduction for entering administration.
Before today’s game the Cornish club are six points behind second from bottom Sutton United and 10 behind 13th place Bromley.
Despite the loss of key players, and a second half collapse in last Saturday’s 8-0 defeat at Maidenhead, Hodges insists on being positive pre-match.
The former Torquay United and Plymouth Argyle defender - who was 39 last week - said: “You have got to give it your all haven’t you?
“There is no point in throwing in the towel, especially after all we have been through.
“We knew we would lose points if we entered administration and we knew we would lose some players as well. Now we move on and hope for a change in fortune.
“I was disappointed in our second half performance last week as well but those things are secondary to all that has been happening off the field.
“Now it’s all about getting as many people through the gates for our home games as possible, so that we still have a club.
“We have got two home games in a row now – Bromley and then next Saturday the FA Cup tie against Totton – and it would be great if we got everyone coming along to those games.
“We have averaged crowds of 600 and more in the past and it would be great to see us getting back above those figures again.
“Now is the chance for that to happen and I hope that anyone who wants to do their bit in keeping a Cornish club in the Conference comes along to the home games, because it would give us a great boost.”
Hodges confirmed goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe - a target for Oxford City - is now set to stay and play at Truro today.
