Weymouth have appointed goalkeeper Jason Matthews as player-manager of their Southern League Premier first team.
The 38-year-old keeper – caretaker boss at Weymouth since they parted company with Brendon King a month ago – will be guest at a special Terras’ fans forum following next Saturday’s home league match against Corby Town.
Paulton-born former Exeter City keeper Matthews is in his second spell at Weymouth, after rejoining them last year and six-year spell with the Dorset club from 2002-2008.
• Bideford AFC central defender Ben Gerring is set to join Conference South side Hayes & Yeading United.
Gerring’s defensive switch enables the 23-year-old former Plymouth Argyle trainee to team up with experienced ex-Liverpool and Sunderland central defender Phil Babb, now manager at 11th placed Hayes, whose match at Dorchester Town on Saturday was washed off.
• Torquay United striker Ashley Yeoman will return to his parent club tomorrow following a second successful loan spell with Sean Joyce’s high-flying Southern Premier Robins.
South Devon-born Yeoman - 22 next month - has been recalled by managerless United as they seek to regroup under caretaker boss Geoff Harrop following last week’s dismissal of Alan Knill.
Yeoman's goals enabled Bideford to clinch promotion as Western League champions in 2010.
