CORNWALL GOLF ROUND-UP

Trevose play Perranporth in the Cornwall Team Championship final at St Enodoc Golf Club on Sunday (0800).

Cornwall’s professionals pipped their amateur county counterparts from the Winter Golf Series 8-7 at Trevose.

West Cornwall amateur Jon Coleman said it is the third time in three years the pros have won the annual early season match by a point.

The professionals led 3-2 following the morning fourball matches on the north Cornwall coast and that proved decisive as the afternoon singles finished all-square 5-5.

Winter Golf Series Cornwall amateurs Josh Greenaway (Bowood Park) Richard Ackland (Trevose) Matt Richards, Jon Coleman (West Cornwall) Antony Nash, Joe Cruse, Steve Chapman (St Enodoc) Simon Knowles (Perranporth) Ben Armstrong (Carlyon Bay) Nick Gammon (Trevose).

• Newquay beat Trevose 3-2 to win the Frank Wills Salver while Trethorne triumphed 3 ½-1 ½ to claim the CAW Cornwall Bowl. Both finals were played at West Cornwall.
