Somerset’s Lee Corfield finished tied 101st at the 2011 Open Championship at Royal St George’s.
The Burnham & Berrow touring professional carded two over par 72 for his first round and a 75 for his second at Sandwich.
Corfield bogeyed 1, 2 and 5 before settling into his game and clawing a shot back with a birdie three at the 453 yard eighth.
He played the final 10 holes in regulation.
Corfield missed the cut following his second round 75 despite a birdie at the 564 yard seventh and another at the par four 10th.
Those scoring three over or better qualified for the final two rounds at Sandwich.
Corfield qualified for the Open through Local Final Qualifying at Littlestone following a five-way play off for the two final places at Royal St George's.
He topped the regional qualifying leaderboard at Ferndown.
He competes on the European Challenge Tour.
The 2012 Open Championship will be at Royal Lytham & St Anne's from July 19-22.
The 2013 Open is being staged at Murifield (July 18-21) and in 2014 Royal Liverpool (July 17-20).
