New South West women's champion Bethan Popel is set to compete in next week's English Girls’ championship which takes place at Ellesborough Golf Club in the Chiltern Hills from Tuesday until Thursday.
Long Ashton's Popel - who turned 16 earlier this week - became regional women's champion at Churston and will be among the region's top players at Ellesborough along with new South West girls' champion Sammie Giles.
Bristolian Popel is Gloucestershire Ladies champion. She is coached by head professional Mike Hart at Long Ashton, where PGA European Tour player Chris Wood is a member.
Cornwall's Giles, 16, is from Saltash and plays her club golf at St Mellion. She is coached by Hele Park professional and 2005 English Ladies amateur strokeplay champion Laura Eastwood, a former SW girls' champion.
The English under 15 and under 13 girls’ championships will be contested simultaneously at Mentmore Golf and Country Club, near Leighton Buzzard.
Almost 250 of the country’s top girl golfers, aged from nine to 18 years, will compete over three days at the two Buckinghamshire courses next week in a bid to win English titles.
All championship competitors will play 18 holes each on Tuesday and Wednesday. At Ellesborough the top 40 players and ties will qualify for the final 36 holes on Thursday.
In the English u15 championship the top 36 players and ties will qualify for the final 36 holes. In the English u13 championship the top 18 players and ties will qualify for the final 18 holes.
