Cornwall ace Rob MacGregor roared into runners-up spot with a new Church Course amateur record five under 64 following his morning 71 as the host county blazed their way to the English County Finals on 848, 38 shots clear of last season’s unbeatable South West Week champions Somerset.

West Cornwall’s Harry Hall added more clout to the home county’s win, finishing third in the individual 36 holes event with consistent 69 and 67 for a two under total of 136.

Cornwall - who famously won the English County Finals in 2014 for the first time at Westward Ho! - will now attempt to repeat the feat at Sandwell Park on the Birmingham Road in West Bromwich from September 23-25.
