Gloucestershire need only halve their final match today to successfully defend the English Women’s County Finals title.
Bottom of the table Buckinghamshire produced the surprise result of the finals when they held table topping Yorkshire to a 4½-4½ draw at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club.
In yesterday’s other matches defending champions Gloucestershire beat Nottinghamshire 5½-3½ and hosts Suffolk defeated Hampshire by the same score.
It means the title will be decided by today’s final round clash between unbeaten Gloucestershire and Yorkshire.
South West champions Gloucestershire, who have won four from four this week, know a draw or more will enable them to retain the national trophy.
Until yesterday Yorkshire had won all three of their matches conceding just two points from 27 games, Buckinghamshire had lost their opening three matches.
Gloucestershire - who first entered the county championships in 1900 - are on a run of seven finals appearances having won England's South West Inter-Counties match week seven times in a row.
