Clifton Ladies face the toughest end of year test when they travel to Investec Women’s Hockey League leaders Reading on Saturday in the final game before the midwinter, mid-season break.
Reading are runaway Women’s Premier Division leaders at the midway stage of the season, seven points clear of second placed Leicester.
Ominously their last three home games have also produced a glut of goals.
Reading beat seventh placed Sutton Coldfield 9-2, basement dwellers Cannock 10-0 and last time out at Sonning Lane put seven past sixth placed Olton & West Warwicks without reply.
Fleur Horner’s Clifton side – who have had a good first half of the season – will want to avenge a 1-0 home defeat by Reading at the start of October.
That defeat was also Clifton’s first league loss following a flying start to the new term, when the Bristol club topped the table and set the pace.
Saturday's match at Sonning Lane starts at 1330.
