The greens head into Sunday's EHL match at Hampstead & Westminster (1400) three points adrift at the foot of the top flight but buoyed by yesterday's brilliant BUCS victory at Nottingham University.

Goals from Tom Woods and Somerset ace Tom Carson (2) secured the green machine’s final spot against Durham University on Thursday March 15 at the Abbeydale Sports Club, Sheffield.

Durham beat University of Birmingham 5-3 in their afternoon semi at Nottingham University, which followed Exeter’s 10 o’clock start.

Loughborough beat Durham 2-1 in last season’s final while Exeter triumphed 3-2 against 2009 champions Loughborough in the 2010 Sheffield showdown.

• University of Bath and University of Exeter were knocked out at the semi finals stage of the women’s BUCS hockey first team championship at Nottingham yesterday.

Bath were beaten 4-1 by Birmingham while Exeter lost 5-0 to Durham. Josie Rixon scored for Bath.

• University of Wales, Cardiff are through to the BUCS women's trophy final against Manchester following yesterday's 3-0 win over Lancaster and goals for Libby Timney, Lisa Daley and Natasha Marke-Jones.

Manchester beat Newcastle 5-1 to face UWIC in Sheffield on March 15.

• University of Exeter 4s meet University of Plymouth firsts in the men's BUCS Western Conference Cup semis on March 7 following yesterday's wins.

Exeter beat Bath 3s 7-5 while Plymouth overcame Winchester 3-2 with goals by John Pearson, Josh White and Alasdair McGregor.

• Andrew Ross (2) and Ed Carson scored as University of Exeter beat Reading 3-2 to reach the men's second team BUCS Cup final.
