The top men’s hockey teams in Wales meet under lights at the Welsh Institute of Sport tonight when Whitchurch host Cardiff & UWIC (Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, 2000).
Cardiff & UWIC are fifth in the EHL Men’s Conference West following an eye-catching 3-2 comeback win at third placed University of Birmingham thanks to Stefan Ray-Hills’ last minute winner.
Whitchurch – tonight’s hosts although both Cardiff teams are at home at the water-based National Hockey Centre – are eighth in the 10-team Conference with six games remaining.
Tonight’s match was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday February 4 but was put on ice by the freezing weather conditions.
The sides drew 1-1 in their first national league meeting on October 1 after Dale Hutchinson cancelled out Ben Croxall’s 32nd minute opener for Whitchurch.
