Exeter – who finished ninth in the 2011-2012 Men’s Premier Division - finish the tournament against Conference East champions Canterbury knowing anything but defeat will maintain their top flight status following yesterday’s 6-0 win over Bath.

West champions Bath meet Conference North champions Brooklands Manchester University, who also know anything but defeat will confirm their promotion.

Brooklands top the table on six points following a 1-0 win over Exeter two weeks ago and yesterday’s 3-2 win over Canterbury.

Exeter are second on goal difference following yesterday’s win and quickfire hat-trick in nine minutes for Tom Carson (pictured) following James Royce’s fourth minute opener.

Brendon Noble (38 pc) and Gareth Davies 41 (pc) built on Exeter’s 4-0 half time lead after Somerset ace Carson struck in the 22nd and 24th minutes from open play before completing his trick from a 31st minute penalty corner.

The top two teams at the end of the round robin Promotion Tournament secure a 2012-2013 Men’s Premier Division berth.

• Team Bath Buccaneers visit Horsham (1200) today in the first of their relegation round robin matches to try and retain their Investec Women's Hockey League status.
