WOMENS HOCKEY Clifton save best until last

clifton hockey crestBristol's Clifton Ladies Hockey Club are through to the Investec Women's Cup final following a dramatic 3-1 penalty flick win over Premier Division rivals Sutton Coldfield.

Caitlin Jeffreys was every bit as much a heroine as spot-on scorers Harriet Pearce, Dawn Mitchell and Emil Atkinson as the Clifton keeper made penalty saves to deny Jenny Parkinson and Sutton ace Jane Sixsmith.

Zoe Leach and Brussels-born Aileen Davis were on target for the Bristol blues in normal time.

Clifton now wait to see who they face in the April 27 final at Beeston Hockey Club as Buckingham's semi-final at home to Bowdon Hightown was snowed off.

Women's Conference West champions Buckingham are now due to play Premier side Bowdon next Sunday.

• The first team's win sets up a special double as Clifton meet Beeston in the Women's Second XI Cup final at Wakefield HC on May 5.
