LIGHTNING BOLTS STRIKES OUT TWICE

Neil Boulton - author of the must-get Vamos! the Avon Plate Story (searching for the soul of Sunday morning football) - was looking forward to their Bristol & District Sunday League Division Four end of season title decider for more than one reason.

Avon Plate - now in their 11th season - played Harvesters at Frenchay Cricket Club, where right hand opener Bolts will spend his summer months playing for Easton Cowboys.

However veteran midfielder Bolts disclosed: "You may be interested to know that what could have been a great day of sport for me, turned out to be not so wonderful after all.

"Avon Plate lost 4-1 in the morning to finish as division runners-up.

"I then went on to score a big fat zero at cricket in the afternoon as the Easton Cowboys second XI lost as well. To top it all, it rained while we were in bat!"
