South West Sports News consider ourselves more than lucky when it comes to dipping our toes in the wider pool of sport.
Our home ground is about the length of an Olympic swimming pool away from the training base of the internationally-renowned Plymouth Leander swim team, coached by Jon Rudd.
Plymouth Leander head coach Rudd is British Swimming Coaches Association coach of the year and Plymouth College director of swimming.
Rudd received the 2012 BSCA Coach of the Year award - sponsored by Speedo - for coaching Lithuania’s teenage swimming sensation Ruta Meilutyte to Olympic gold in the women’s 100m breaststroke at London 2012.
Rudd's assistant is Lindsay Dunn, deputy director of swimming at Plymouth College.
