The programme for England Rugby’s next generation continues with a South West Divisional Academy Under 15 training camp in Bristol.
Thirty-five Under 15s will attend Clifton College today and tomorrow – the final of four events which will support the selection for next season's England’s Under 16s squad.
RFU National Academy Coach John Fletcher said: “This is the first time we have held divisional camps and the idea is to look at around 140 players as well as sharing best practice with their county, divisional and Academy coaches.
"The players were selected from the Academy 12-a-side festivals in May. We focus on three main areas – attack (catching and passing), the tackle area and ball carrying – so that when they progress they have the skills and technical ability to play a variety of game-plans.
"Following these Academy divisional camps the players will return to competition in 15-a-side festivals at Bristol Grammar School (South West and London & East) and Leicester Grammar School (North and Midlands) in late August.”
Previous camps have been held for the North division at Sedbergh School, the Midlands at Broadstreet and London & South East at Surrey Sports Park.
