SPECIAL DAY FOR SOUTH WEST GIRLS RUGBY

The Rugby Football Union for Women South West under 15 side play their London & South East counterparts at Newbury on Sunday (1400).

In line with this seasons RFUW initiative, this will be the first time ever that a girls South West U15 team has taken the field following the decision to come into line with the men’s game and cut the eight women’s divisions down to four.

Stephenson rockets College into last eight

Plymouth College are through to the Daily Mail RBS Schools Under 18 Cup quarter finals for the first time following a 21-17 win over Stowe School at the Brickfields home of Plymouth Albion earlier today.

Plymouth's 17 year old scrum half George Stephenson scored a superb match-winning second half try under the posts, converted by England Under 18 fly half Henry Slade to put the unbeaten home side 21-10 ahead on their way to victory.

Wace is ace as Plymouth College claim win XV

Unbeaten Plymouth College beat King's College Taunton 49-10 in South West A round six of the Daily Mail RBS Under 18 Cup.

The Devon side have won all 15 competitive matches this season, placing them in the top three schools' first XVs in the country.

DEVON SCHOOLS RUGBY FINAL PUT ON ICE

The cold snap continues to play havoc with sports fixtures across the region.

Tonight's eagerly anticipated Devon Schools Under 18 Rugby Union Cup final between unbeaten Plymouth College and Kelly College at Plymouth Albion's Brickfields home ground has been postponed due to an unfit pitch.

PENZANCE-NEWLYN RECEIVE PRESIDENT'S AWARD

The Rugby Football Union's Senior Vice President John Owen will officially present Penzance & Newlyn RFC with their 2009 President's XV Award on Friday at Westholme.

The West Cornwall club were honoured last month when they were named winners in the 'More Volunteers' category.
