Cornwall keep faith with Launceston’s popular Ben Hilton to lead the side in this season’s county championship campaign, which kicks off away to Gloucestershire at Cinderford RFC on May 4.
Cornish All Blacks lock forward Hilton had the honour of skippering the famous blacks and golds in the Bill Beaumont Cup last season and was Trelawny's Army Supporters Club player of the year in 2011.
Cornwall warm-up for the county championship with a Tamar Cup defence against Devon at Plymouth Albion RFC on April 22.
• The Royal Navy host Devon in a representative friendly in Plymouth at Devonport Services RFC tomorrow night (1915) and admission is free!
I have to be at a meeting in Somerset but wish I could be at The Rectory.
• Devon open their Bill Beaumont Cup Division 2 South campaign away to North Midlands on May 4, while the Navy are warming up for their Inter Services championships.
Tiverton RFC will host Devon’s home cup game against border rivals Somerset on Saturday May 11.
• Somerset begin their championship preparations with a game against Bath United at the Recreation Ground on Monday April 8.
• Dorset & Wiltshire begin their County Championship Shield bid away to Berkshire on Saturday April 27.
• Barnstaple RFC await the winners of the Saturday March 30 tie between Exmouth and Newton Abbot in the Devon Senior Cup final following a 41-12 win over Sidmouth in their semi.
• Camborne RFC are through to the Cornwall Cup final and now play either Wadebridge Camels or St Ives.
• Old Redcliffians RFC meet Clevedon in the first of the Somerset Cup semis at Weston-super-Mare RFC tonight (1900). Weston-super-Mare meet holders North Petherton at Taunton RFC next Tuesday (1930).
