England World Cup match-winning try scorers Henry Slade and Jack Nowell return to the Exeter Chiefs starting XV for tomorrow’s Premiership home opener against London Irish (1800ko).
Centre Slade’s start at 13 is one of three changes Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has made to the side that started last Saturday’s 19-17 opening defeat at Wescountry rivals Bath.
Nowell – who scored a memorable World Cup hat-trick against Uruguay - replaces experienced Matt Jess.
Front row forward Tomas Francis - fresh from World Cup duty with Wales - is drafted straight back into the fold at tight-head prop while England and British Lions lock Geoff Parling, who joined the Chiefs this summer from Leicester Tigers, starts on the bench.
Exeter include former Exiles player James Short on the left wing while skipper and fly half Gareth Steenson makes his 150th league appearance for the club.
