Scrum half Dave Lewis will be donning the colours of Exeter Chiefs next season after he agreed a move from Aviva Premiership rivals Gloucester.
Having joined the Cherry & Whites as an 18-year-old in 2007, the 23-year-old admits he is relishing a new opportunity at Sandy Park having agreed a two-year deal with the Devon club.
Manchester-born Lewis is no stranger to life in the Westcountry having lived in North Devon with his parents and honed his early rugby skills at Ivybridge Community College alongside current Chiefs coach Rob Gibson.
Lewis' senior career took off in 2007 when he agreed a one-year deal with the Kingsholm club and combined his rugby development with a course in Sports Coaching and Conditioning at Hartpury College – Gloucester's training base.
The talents of Lewis – who has represented England at Under-16, 18 and 20s level – were clear to see and quickly he established himself within Gloucester's first-team ranks, making 88 appearances.
Lewis is now seeking a new challenge.
He explains: "It's never easy to say goodbye at any time, but I do feel the time is right for me to try a new challenge and going to the Chiefs will hopefully bring the best out of me.
"It's exciting and I am really looking forward to the move. In a strange way it's like going home for me because I still have my family and a lot of friends in Devon."
