Taunton Vale are on their way back to the national league after clinching the West Clubs Women’s Hockey League title.
Somerset’s top women’s team – who spent a season in the EHL in 2007-08 - have won promotion to the Women’s Conference West.
With two West Clubs Premier One games remaining, Vale have established an unassailable 14 point lead over second placed Bournemouth, who have four league matches remaining.
Vale clinched promotion and the West Clubs title with a 4-3 win at Isca seconds thanks to goals by forwards Anna Miller, Amy Morris and Kat Johnson. Half back Kate Reynolds also scored for Vale, who were always in the lead and 3-1 up at half time.
Saturday’s success was Taunton’s 16th win in 20 matches and their eighth triumph on the road.
Next Saturday Vale host fifth placed Clifton seconds (Taunton Vale Sports Club, 1145) before visiting Plymouth Marjon on March 31.
Taunton have lost just once this term and are skippered by central defender Victoria Knight.
The automatic relegation spot in Women’s Conference West will be decided on Saturday as basement side Team Bath Buccaneers host ninth placed Exe Ladies at the University of Bath Sports Training Village (1400).
Only a point separates the bottom two going into Saturday’s relegation decider.
The side finishing ninth competes in the end of season play offs in a bid to retain their national league status.
