It is that full-on, hectic time of the year when winter and summer team sports go head-to-head (and whatever happens it rains).
The hockey season may well be over but many rugby union and football teams still have important league matches, play-offs and cup finals as their respective seasons go down to the wire.
As for netball, local league action may be all but over but international star-studded Team Bath Buccaneers and Celtic Dragons are in the middle of back-to-back Superleague games against one another. They resume match action at Team Bath on Monday.
First class cricket counties - Glamorgan, Gloucestershire and Somerset - are already well down the track in their county championship programmes while Devon, Dorset, Wales and Wiltshire were at the crease for the opening rounds of the Minor Counties KO Trophy last weekend.
Cornwall begin their Minor Counties knock at home to Hertfordshire at Werrington CC on Sunday May 5.
Cornwall delivers a full league programme for club cricketers today although 50-50 Premier Cup ties started in the county last Saturday.
The Devon, Dorset, Somerset and West of England Premier League seasons all bowl-in next Saturday, May 4.
Dorset & Wiltshire begin their rugby union county championship campaign today - away to Berkshire - while Cornwall, Gloucester and Devon kick off their Bill Beaumont Cup ties next Saturday.
Somerset start a week later - May 11 - with a trip to Tiverton RFC to play Devon.
The golf season is in full swing with the start of the men's amateur regional Channel League while Camborne's Tehidy Park has already hosted the Cornwall ladies' county championships.
American football, athletics and tennis are underway and regional summer rugby league and seasonal rugby union sevens tournaments are just around the corner.
Cycling will be massive again this summer while tapes have already gone up on the speedway season and ...
