Gallagher Premiership logoPremiership Rugby has confirmed a two-week, mid-season break after European competitions were temporarily suspended by EPCR.

Premiership Rugby chief executive Darren Childs said: "The welfare of everyone involved in Premiership Rugby is crucial to us and this break in the season gives us the chance to hand some much-needed rest to our hard-working players, management, staff and match officials.”

Sam Simmonds scored a hat-trick of tries as Exeter Chiefs began their Premiership Rugby title defence in emphatic style with a 33-3 win at Harlequins.

Simmonds got the ball rolling in the first half to put Exeter 7-3 up at the break.

Exeter Chiefs celebrate winning back to back European and domestic rugby union titles following Saturday's 19-13 Gallagher Premiership Final win over Wasps at Twickenham.

Plymouth born England international centre Henry Slade scored Saturday's only Exeter try and also touched down as the Devon club won their first European Champions Cup 31-27 against Racing 92 at Ashton Gate, Bristol just over a week ago.

Taunton Titans are confirmed as National Two South champions and along with runaway National Two North champions Caldy will play in National League One next season.
