RFU CEO Bill Sweeney has confirmed the end of the 2019/20 season for all league, cup and county rugby in England with the exception of the Gallagher Premiership.The RFU is in active discussions with the Premiership.

The West's Gallagher Premiership Rugby teams are back in European action this coming weekend with the penultimate round of Heineken Champions Cup group-stage action covered on BT Sport and Channel 4.It kicks off tonight at the Recreation Ground where Bath Rugby will be aiming for their first European win of the season against domestic rivals Harlequins in front of the BT Sport 2 cameras. Exeter Chiefs returned to the Premiership summit with a hard-fought 14-7 home win over arch rivals Saracens.Northampton topped the table on 23 points following a 33-26 home win over third placed Gloucester on Saturday but Chiefs egded past the Saints by a point following victory in front of a record 13,593 at sold out Sandy Park.

Exeter Chiefs fly-half Gareth Steenson is to take his first foray into coaching after accepting a new role with National League One outfit Plymouth Albion.Chiefs fans need not panic that the club's all-time record points scorer is quitting Sandy Park, as he will still be very much part of Rob Baxter's plans for the 2019/20 campaign, but Steenson is to offer a helping hand to new Albion head coach Ben Gulliver.
