SPEEDWAY: SOMERSET REBELS 52 PLYMOUTH DEVILS 44

Semi final-bound Somerset Rebels underlined top place in the South Group with a 52-44 home League Cup win over Plymouth Devils last night.

Somerset stormed into a 20-4 lead following 5-1 maximums in the first four races.

PREMIER LEAGUE SPEEDWAY: PLYMOUTH v SOMERSET

Semi finalists Somerset beat the Devils 51-39 in last month's League Cup meeting in Plymouth.

DEVILS DEFEATED BY BEARS IN REDCAR

plymouth devils speedway logoPlymouth made a promising start, winning the first two races, before losing 62-30 in their Premier League Speedway match at Redcar on last night.

Ben Barker won the opening heat and Kyle Hughes followed up by taking first place in the next race, but Redcar came back strongly with six maximum 5-1 heat wins in the next seven heats.

BOWDEN SEEKS PIECES OF EIGHT FROM BANDITS

plymouth devils speedway logoPlymouth will be seeking revenge over Berwick when they meet in the Speedway Premier League at St Boniface Arena on Friday evening (1930).

The Bandits inflicted Plymouth’s heaviest home defeat of the season when they beat them 57-36 on their previous visit at the beginning of August.

WELLS AND FRANCHETTI SET TO FACE REDCAR

plymouth devils logoNew signings Ricky Wells and Gino Franchetti are in the Plymouth Devils seven to race Redcar Bears home and away in  Premier League Speedway matches this week.

 

The Devils will also be boosted by the return from international duty of number one Ben Barker while Lee Smart is set to return from injury for the home clash at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening (1930).

SPEEDWAY: DEVILS AT THE DOUBLE

plymouth devils logoPlymouth completed their first Premier League Speedway double of the season when they beat fellow strugglers Leicester 48-36 last night at the St Boniface Arena.

The meeting was abandoned after heat 14 because of the steady rain, which had been falling since heat six. But the win stands because the sport’s rules provide for results to stand if at least 12 of the scheduled 15 heats are completed.

DEVILS AT WORKINGTON WASHED OUT

Plymouth Devils' Premier League speedway match at Workington tonight (1900) was postponed this morning due to a waterlogged track.

The meeting was postponed just before 0900 following an early morning track inspection.
