Plymouth Leander swim star Antony James has won a silver medal for England at the XIX Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
The 20-year-old Plymothian touched home in 52.50 along with Ryan John Pini (Papua New Guinea) in the men's 100m butterfly final behind gold medal winner Geoff Huegill (Australia).

Exeter's world record holder Liam Tancock has just won gold for Team England in the 50m backstroke final at the 2010 Delhi XIX Commonwealth Games.
Tancock set a new Games record for the discipline winning the final in 24.62 to finish almost half a second up on runner-up Hayden Stoeckel of Australia.

Bath Tennis ace Alicia Barnett and Norfolk's Olivia Nicholls have been drawn against Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova and Liudmila Samsonova in their opening women’s doubles match at Wimbledon today (Friday). It is a challenging draw for the Brits against the number nine seeds for the tournament, with Kudermetova having reached the final with Elena Vesnina on her last appearance at the All England Club in 2021.

Plymothian Antony James finished sixth in the men's 50m butterfly final today at the Delhi 2010 XIX Commonwealth Games in a season's best 24.26.The Plymouth Leander swim star will now concentrate on his preferred discipline, the 100m butterfly, which starts tomorrow.

Team Bath Tennis players Toby Samuel and Alicia Barnett have gained more invaluable Grand Slam experience after competing at Wimbledon 2023.
It was a first-ever Grand Slam for Samuel, who enjoyed a dream senior debut on the world-famous grass courts as he and men’s doubles partner Connor Thompson beat Pedro Cachin (Argentina) and Yannick Hanfmann (Germany) 7-5 6-3 on Thursday.

Alicia Barnett’s “incredible” 2022 has continued after the Team Bath Tennis ace was added to the Great Britain team for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, taking place at Glasgow Emirates Arena next week November 8-13.It will be a first appearance in the world’s largest annual women's international team sports competition – formerly known as the Fed Cup – for Barnett, who has risen to become the British number one women’s doubles player after a fantastic season.
