Table topping Ivybridge Town continued their impressive season with a comprehensive home win over Torrington in the South West Peninsula League at Erme Valley.

It was the leaders' ninth successive win in the league and extended their unbeaten run to 14 matches, including a penalty shoot-out success against Torquay United in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl.

Ivybridge Town are through to the Walter C Parson League Cup third round following a 3-2 win at Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police in a classic game of two halves on Saturday (Oct 14).

A confident first half performance saw Ivybridge take a deserved 2-0 interval lead. But injuries to Connor Rush and Fletcher Williams resulted in a number of changes early in the second period and Stoke Gabriel took advantage to draw level.

It says something about the progress Saltash have made in the last month that they were disappointed not to beat title contenders Torpoint at the Waterways on Saturday.

The young Ashes side were cheered off at the end of an enthralling east Cornwall derby which could have gone either way.

League leaders Ivybridge Town continued their unbeaten run in the South West Peninsula League with a 6-1 home win over Honiton Town at Erme Valley.

Ivys made the perfect start, taking the lead with a goal from Jacob Smelt in the second minute.
