Oxfordshire have a formal partnership with Sussex which has seen James Coles and Harrison Ward progress to the first-class ranks at Hove.
Ward was back with Oxfordshire for this match, captaining them against his employers, with former Oxfordshire all-rounder Tom Price in the Sussex side.
Sussex also included Dan Ibrahim, who made 10 white ball appearances for Oxfordshire between 2024 and 2025, and slow left-armer Alfie Smethurst who has played for Oxfordshire in their most recent T20 matches.
It was two more players with National Counties experience in seamer Dominic Goodman (Buckinghamshire) and leg-spinner Mo Rizvi, a current Cambridgeshire player who is trialling with Sussex, who were responsible for dismissing Oxfordshire for 80 inside 16 overs.
Goodman took three for seven and Rizvi three for 12 with just four batters making double figures with Freddie Smith top-scoring with 17.
Sussex wasted no time in chasing down their target with Charlie Tear making 41 before he was stumped by Smith off leg-spinner Henry Welch. Ibrahim was unbeaten on 20 when Sussex coasted home in six overs.
