NATIONAL COUNTIES T20 Trophy finals day preview

The two most successful sides in the history of National – formerly Minor – Counties cricket will go head-to-head in the first semi-final at this year’s Finals Day at Tring Park today (1000). 

Until last August Staffordshire were the most successful side with 15 titles across all formats but Berkshire drew level when they won the National Counties Trophy at Wormsley then overtook them when they collected their 16th piece of silverware by regaining the National Counties Championship title by virtue of their first innings lead against Lincolnshire in a rain-ravaged final.

NATIONAL COUNTIES CRICKET deciding T20 group games

DORSET top National Counties T20 Trophy Group Two but have completed their programme so need Devon to do them a favour by beating cross-Tamar rivals Cornwall in at least one of today's matches at Cornwood to secure their place at Finals Day. 

Cornwall are set to give a debut to batter Xavie Clarke who has transferred from Shropshire.

NATIONAL COUNTIES T20 Chaffey debut for Dorset

Group Two leaders Dorset who won their first three matches before rain washed out the fourth against Devon, host Cornwall at Milton Abbey School – a new county venue – today and then make the short trip to Warminster to face Wiltshire tomorrow. 

Dorset give a T20 debut to Ben Chaffey, last season’s county Under-18s captain and have home-produced Hampshire all-rounder Tom Prest available for the first time this season. Hampshire all-rounder Ross Whiteley is again available to Dorset this weekend.

NATIONAL COUNTIES T20 update on today's openers

Hampshire all-rounder Ross Whiteley is set to make his National Counties debut for Dorset in today’s T20 Group Two double-header against Herefordshire at Sherborne School. 

Whiteley joined Hampshire from Worcestershire on a three-year white ball contract ahead of last season and has now been recruited by Dorset for white ball cricket as part of their close association with their first-class neighbours.

COUNTIES CRICKET Western Division team news

Cheshire will be boosted by the return of captain Rob Sehmi for their National Counties Championship Western Division One match against Berkshire which starts at Nantwich today (1100). 

Sehmi broke a finger in the defeat by Herefordshire in Cheshire’s last Championship match three weeks ago and he missed the Showcase 50-overs match against Warwickshire two week ago.

NATIONAL COUNTIES warm-up for Euros title defence

National Counties XI will warm-up for their defence of the European Championship by playing MCC in a 50-overs contest at Banbury today (1100). 

National Counties, who represented England, triumphed in the T10 European Championship last October and will return to the Cartama Oval in Malaga to defend their title in October.
