Defending champions Berkshire face a must-win mission against Herefordshire in their final Western Division One match of the Durant Cricket National Counties Championship which starts at Eastnor today. 

Berkshire have drawn all three of their matches to date and were saved by rain from a first home defeat in nine years against Cheshire at Finchampstead earlier this week when the final day was washed out.

Warwickshire seamer George Garrett will make his first appearance for Shropshire in four years in the Durant Cricket National Counties Championship Western Division Two match against Dorset at Wimborne starting today - weather-permitting.

Garrett, who played his formative cricket in Hertfordshire, joined Warwickshire while he was studying at Shrewsbury School and made his only previous appearance for Shropshire against Dorset in a rain-affected Championship match at his home club Shrewsbury in 2019.

The 20 National Counties will again have the opportunity to test themselves against first-class opposition in the annual Showcase Matches which will be played for the third time today and on Tuesday. 

The matches give National Counties players the chance to showcase their talent in front of first-class county coaches and also allow supporters of National Counties cricket to see first-class players at close quarters, possibly for the first time.

Herefordshire have included contracted Worcestershire pair Rehaan Edavalath and Henry Cullen in their side for the Western Division One match against Cheshire at Alderley Edge. 

Off-spinner Edavalath, 19, who made his first-class debut against Derbyshire last month, will be making his National Counties debut and batter Cullen his first appearance of the season for Herefordshire.
