LEAGUE ONE Plymouth Argyle 2 Peterborough Utd 0

argyle logo2013ARGYLE beat visitors Peterborough 2-0 in League One to avenge a 2-0 midweek EFL Cup defeat by the Posh at Home Park.

The greens took the lead on the half hour after a flowing move down the right led to playmaker Danny Mayor teeing up Finn Azaz, who made no mistake with his strike.

Azaz, on loan from Aston Villa, has now scored twice in two home league games for Argyle.

The home side increased their lead from a thumping 65th minute Ryan Hardie penalty after Frankie Kent fouled Bali Mumba.

Joe Taylor was one of four Posh subs introduced at the break and he hit the post with an 86th minute strike on the turn as Peterborough went in search of goal.

At the other end Posh keeper Lucas Bergstrom made a brilliant 22nd minute save to deny Mumba.

Peterborough’s best first half chance was created by Jack Marriott, but his angled strike was superbly saved by Cooper, who later got a hand to Taylor’s strike to turn it on to the post.
