LEAGUE ONE Plymouth Argyle 1 Wigan Athletic 1

Wigan forward Fraser Murray pounced on a defensive mix-up to level in the 82nd minute of a 1-1 draw at mid-table rivals Plymouth.

Christian Saydee put Murray in on goal as Argyle failed to clear their lines in the wind and the Wigan forward finished with a thumping rising shot past Conor Hazard.

Swiss striker Lorent Tolaj won and scored a 70th minute penalty, cheekily clipped over keeper Sam Tickle, as Argyle swept into a short-lived lead.

Tolaj came the closest to opening the scoring in the first half with a first-time half volley which beat Sam Tickle but rebounded off the crossbar in the 16th minute.

The striker’s chance came thanks to a well-worked short corner routine with recalled teenage playmaker Tegan Finn teeing up Law McCabe to cross for Tolaj.

Wigan responded with Murray looping the ball over the bar from close range following Jensen Weir’s incisive 23rd minute cross.

Tolaj also went close when latching on to a Malachi Boateng nod-down in the 26th minute but this time the striker’s shot-on-the-spin went wide.

Bali Mumba turned provider in the 29th minute, with a pass into the penalty area for Boateng, whose right foot shot on the turn flew wide.

Tolaj beat the wall with his 42nd minute free kick from 20 yards but the ball flew just past the post.

Substitute Jamie Paterson’s 80th minute free kick, following a foul on Tolaj, flew just over from the edge of the box.
