The Pilgrims’ phoenix-like rise has seen them soar from the rock bottom to 17th in less than a month.
Argyle have scored 10 goals – six from Portugese ace Ruben Lameiras – and conceded just four in victories over Walsall, Coventry, Southend and Oxford.
Boss Derek Adams says: “We have done exceptionally well to win four games in a row following on from the point just before New Year.
“It’s major for everyone, especially the players because they have worked exceptionally hard to get themselves into this position.
“They have scored a good number of goals.
“We have shown we can win games in a great footballing way but on Tuesday night we had to grind it out.”
Argyle overcame Walsall 2-1 thanks to goals from central defenders Ryan Edwards and Niall Canavan.
Adams admits: “It was a terrible night – cold, wet, snowy, hailstones, whatever – and we showed the wee bit of steel that gets you moving up the league.
“It was very tight in the middle of the park. They played 4-4-2 we went 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 so it was tight in the middle of the pitch.”
And now on to Wycombe on a high?
Adams says: “It’s another big game for us but we have done well. We look forward to going there. It’s always a very good venue to go and play football.”
Nothing to do with the fact it’s called Adams Park, of course.
