BRISTOL ROVERS part company with Paul Tisdale

Bristol Rovers club crestBristol Rovers have parted company with manager Paul Tisdale ahead of Saturday's home game against fellow League One strugglers Swindon Town (1500ko).

Rovers head of recruitment Tommy Widdrington will take temporary charge of the first team while the Bristol club source a successor to Tisdale. Assistant manager Jack Mesure and first team coach Kevin Maher will assist Widdrington.

Mel Gwinnett - who teamed up with Tisalde at Rovers in an operations role - has also left the club.

Rovers are 20th in the table following a 2-0 home reverse against Oxford United last night and last Tuesday's 6-1 defeat at Accrington Stanley, which sandwiched a goalless draw at Fleetwood.

Tisdale was appointed on a two and a half year contract on November 19.

Rovers lost 1-0 at Swindon on November 21 before he had chance to get his feet under the manager's table but rallied to win 4-2 at AFC Wimbledon and 3-0 at home to Plymouth in early December.

Tisdale's last win in charge was 2-1 at home to Blackpool in the league on Saturday January 2.
