Evo-Stik League Premier new boys Bideford visit Weymouth today seeking their first point of the new season (Wessex Stadium 1500).
Bideford scored a runaway success as Division One South & West champions last term but have lost their opening three top flight matches following Saturday’s 3-0 setback against Bedford Town at the Sports Ground.
Today Sean Joyce’s Robins tackle a Weymouth side, buoyed by the summer signings of former Truro trio Barry McConnell, Scott Walker and Dan Clay - who joined the Terras from Tiverton Town – as well as Dorchester Town playmaker Kyle Critchell.
Joyce admits: “You only have to look at who they signed over summer to realise Weymouth’s ambitions. They are a big club and will want to be up near the top.”
Walker has already carried on where he left off as Truro’s top scorer and penalty king last term, scoring twice from the spot for his new club.
Weymouth – who drew their opening two games – aim to bounce back following Saturday’s 4-2 setback at St Neots.
• Tiverton Town’s scheduled Division One South & West derby against Taunton Town today has been postponed as Leigh Robinson’s Peacocks are now in FA Cup replay action tomorrow night at home to league rivals Paulton Rovers (Wordsworth Drive 1945).
Rod Marsh scored a 63rd minute leveller as Taunton drew their preliminary round tie 1-1 at Paulton, while Tiverton were knocked out 2-0 at league rivals Clevedon Town, where Jordan Walker and Reeko Best were on target for the Seasiders.
• Teenage striker Jodi Cornwall was on target for Yeovil Town Ladies FC as they drew 1-1 at Gillingham in the FA Women's Premier League South yesterday.
