FA VASE Joy for Hammers! Badgers & Bucks so close...

buildbase fa vase logoWessex Premier high fliers Hamworthy United will have home advantage in FA Vase quarter finals following a 3-1 home fifth round win over Tunbridge Wells.

Tim Sills' Poole-based Hammers won through to the last eight thanks to a Bailey Rowe hat-trick and a Shane Murphy penalty save in front of 661 at the County Ground.

Now the Dorset side will be at home again when they play sixth placed Combined Counties League Premier North side Southall FC in the quarter-finals on Saturday March 12.

Southall won through 4-2 on penalties after drawing goalless at home to Kent County Premier side Stansfeld FC.

United's league rivals Brockenhurst and Western League side Buckland came agonisingly close to joining the Hammers in the last eight.

A best of the round crowd of 1,276 saw Pat McManus' Brockenhurst stage an incredible late comeback to level 3-3 at Littlehampton.

Alex Haynes restored parity six minutes into stoppage time as the Badgers clawed back from 3-1 down.

Lee Garnham's 70th minute third for the home side appeared to have sealed the tie but Christie Ward scored five minutes later to set up a thrilling finish.

Silvano Obeng cancelled out Littlehampton's first half opener on 44 minutes.

Littlehampton won through 4-1 on penalties.

It was an even closer affair for Paul Froude's Bucks who were pipped 4-3 on penalties in front of 1,186 at Newport Pagnell.

Owen Stockton fired the Devon side ahead on the hour - and from distance - only for the Swans to level in a stoppage time goalmouth scramble through defender Alfie Powell.

Such is the nature of non-League football and weather-permitting, Hamworthy, Brockenhurst and Buckland are set to be back in action tomorrow night.

United will be seeking to regain Wessex Premier top spot when they host Dorset rivals Bournemouth while third placed Brockenhurst visit basement side Amesbury Town, fresh from Saturday's win at second bottom Hythe & Dibden.

Buckland are set to host Saltash United in the Western League Cup...
