Exeter head coach Rob Baxter and highly experienced lock Geoff Parling believe Chiefs must learn quickly from their 14-11 home defeat by top of the table Saracens ahead of next Saturday's clash at Sale.
Baxter said: "We've only come up a little bit short.
"In the bigger picture it’s not a be all and end all result as long we're good in the next couple of weeks and understand the challenges we are going to face at Sale and London Irish.
"I'm pleased with large parts of the game but I'm slightly frustrated because I think we knew how to be a bit better and didn't follow that through.
"I cannot influence the refereeing decisions but what we should be able to influence is how our players perform and some of the things we did, that we have to better at."
Post-match Parling admitted: "We're disappointed to say the least. It's definitely a game we could have won and we can complain about decisions but if we'd had been better we would have had a commanding lead.
"This next block of Premiership games is going to be a tough slog but we've just got to go again - and we can't make the errors we made against Saracens at Sale."
