MATCHDAY SATURDAY enjoy regional sport!

Matchday Saturday! and so much happening I thought I ought to entice you to go and support sport.

As well as Football League action, there are also top FA Trophy and FA Vase ties across the region.

These competitions represent the oft quoted non-League equivalent to the FA Cup for teams who compete in them, offering a realistic  chance of reaching a Wembley final.

There is plenty of cup action around on regional rugby grounds today whether it’s the top flight LV= Cup or county competitions.

I have done my utmost to bring you as many cup fixtures as I can however when a county secretary fails to respond to a request for fixtures, you get the feeling you are facing apathy rather than pro-activity... but let's not be negative. It's matchday Saturday!

Heavily weighing in on the positive side for regional rugby are the people like South Molton rugby club secretary Nick Lock and club chairman Grant Sheldon who went out of their way yesterday to help me confirm details of today's Devon One league fixture at St Columba & Torpoint RFC

On hockey fields across the region there is top national league action, including Men’s Conference West England Hockey matches throughout the day – University of Exeter play University of Birmingham tonight under lights!

There is also plenty of men and women’s regional league match action throughout the day - check the Davis Wood Hockey League and West Clubs Women's Hockey League websites for fixtures details.

I can’t be everywhere at once – wish Star Trek could lend me an enterprising transporter – I can encourage you to go out and enjoy your sport, whether playing, supporting or coaching.

Match day… it’s what sport is all about!
