Plymouth Leander swim star Steven Beckerleg helped Team England qualify for this afternoon's men's 4x200m freestyle relay at the XIX Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
England (7:22.61) qualified second fastest for this afternoon's final. Australia led the qualifiers in 7:22.47.
The 21-year-old former Coombe Dean secondary and Gooswell Primary School student was really looking forward to today's competition.
Speaking exclusively to southwestsportsnews from India before the race, Beckerleg said: "It's always special being part of an England team - and now I am swimming for England in the Commonwealth Games! I can't wait to get in the pool and do well for the team."
Beckerleg - a keen Plymouth Argyle supporter - trains at Plymouth College pool, where he is coached by Jon Rudd.
