SOMERSET CRICKET LEAGUE STARTS

The Best Western Shrubbery Hotel Somerset Cricket League begins summer season 38 today.

 

The league founded in 1973 continues to flourish with 68 member clubs, 116 teams playing in 12 divisions.

 

Last summer’s league was won by Westlands Sports firsts, who have been promoted.

 

Last season’s runners-up were Wellington, who begin this summer’s campaign at Purnells today.

 

Today's fixtures - Division 1: Stogumber v Temple Cloud, Ashbrittle v North Petherton, Belvedere v Staplegrove, North Perrott v Watchet, Purnells v Wellington.

 

Division 2: South Petherton v Middlezoy, Wells v Barrington, Kilmington & Stourton v Wincanton, Castle Cary v Wedmore, Horrington v North Newton.

 

Division 3: North Curry v Huish & Langport, Huntspill & District v Curry Rivel, Midsomer Norton 2 v Street 2, Wells Wands v Burnham, Long Sutton v Bagborough.

 

Division 4: Wellington 2 v Weston-super-Mare 3, Frome 2 v Westlands 2, Bridgwater A v North Perrott 2, Staplegrove 2 v Cheddar 2, Wembdon 2 v Belvedere 2.
