MINOR COUNTIES Noott is Cornwall second day saviour

Cornwall Cricket crestTruro’s Adrian Noott took centre stage as Cornwall’s cricketers battled to avoid a two-day defeat in their Unicorns Counties Championship game against Cheshire at Nantwich.

Cheshire were bowled out for 400 giving them a first innings lead of 192. 

Cornwall slid to 71-5 before Noott and Werrington’s Adam Hodgson put on an unbroken 95 for the sixth wicket.

Noott, who spent the entire, exceptionally hot day on the pitch is 70 not out.

Cornwall are 166-5 and trailed by 26 runs going into today’s final day.

Cornwall had a difficult opening day at Nantwich.

They were going well shortly after lunch at 130-2 but the innings fell away to 208 all out thanks to Brad Wadlan’s 101 on his return to the side.

At the close Cheshire were 140-2 in reply.

In the ECB Women’s T20 Championship at Grampound Road Cornwall Women beat Wiltshire by 24 runs but lost to Gloucestershire by 38.

Cornwall Under 15 girls beat Wiltshire by 32 runs at Falmouth.
