A half century from former Hampshire batsman Oli Soames, who was last out, restricted Wiltshire’s first innings lead to 22. Off-spinner Joe King took four for 50 for Wiltshire.
Left-armer seamer Simon Woodruff then took three wickets as Wiltshire reached 108 for six.
Cheshire batsman Will Evans made a maiden Championship century against Oxfordshire at Banbury.
The former Wales player made 112 not out before Cheshire declared with a lead of 25 with one ball of their 90 overs unused.
Half centuries from Calum Rowe and Rob Sehmi, who put on 133 for the third wicket, prepared the ground for Evans.
Oxfordshire were in trouble at 59 for four at the start of their second innings but they finished the day strongly thanks to Tom Cosford’s unbeaten 72 and excellent support from George Tait in an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 109.
Wales NC pair Oskar Kolk and Cameron Herring shared a new county record fifth wicket partnership of 173 against Devon at Sandford.
The pair stretched Wales’ lead to 260 with five wickets in hand after spinners Sam Pearce and Kieran Bull had dismissed Devon for 209.
Pearce, back from Vitality Blast duty with Glamorgan, took his first five wicket haul in the Championship with his leg breaks.
Former Glamorgan off-spinner Bull marked his first Championship appearance in eight years with four for 63. Despite a half century from Matt Golding, Devon were dismissed with 25 overs of their 90 in the first innings unused.
Devon fought back and had Wales 60 for four before Kolk, with the second Championship century of his career, and Herring, with his second half century of the match regained control.
Herefordshire closed in on a second successive win in Western Division Two after they made Shropshire follow on at Shifnal.
Even though Herefordshire put down six catches, most of them in the slips, they still dismissed Shropshire for 149 with seamer James Rudge taking four for 35 and leg-spinner Alex Russell - helped by three sharp catches from Zain Ul Hassan, returning figures of 6.2-3-7-3.
Shropshire fared better second time around thanks to a half century on his Championship debut from acting-captain Graham Wagg, the former Glamorgan all-rounder.
Simon Gregory also batted fluently for his 53 but he and Xavier Clarke (46) fell when well set and Shropshire will go into the final day only 32 ahead with three wickets remaining.
