After three defeats Somerset got back on track – thanks to James Hildreth’s 95 – to ease past county champions Surrey by five wickets at Taunton.
Now they face Worcestershire at New Road on Friday (1100) for a place in Sunday’s semi-final against North table-toppers Notts at Trent Bridge.
In-form Gloucestershire finished fourth – level on 10 points with Somerset – following a four-wicket win at Essex and winning by 116 runs at Essex on Sunday.
Glamorgan – who beat Gloucestershire by 74 runs in Bristol last week – won a high-scoring Hove thriller with eight balls to spare after hosts Essex posted 347-7 in their 50 overs.
Debutant Roman Walker, 18, hit the match-winning six as Glamorgan completed their best one-day comeback to win by two wickets.
With three wins Glamorgan finished sixth in the South table on seven points.
