COUNTIES CRICKET National Trophy quarter-final venues

Exning, Great Witchingham, Slough and Oxton have been chosen as venues for Sunday's free-to-see National Counties Trophy quarter-finals.

Exning will host the Cambridgeshire v Suffolk tie and will be a home match for Cambridgeshire even though the ground is situated in Suffolk.

It was used as a home venue by Suffolk between 1998 and 2002 but has been used more regularly by Cambridgeshire since 2019 including for a Trophy group match against Suffolk last season.

Norfolk have chosen Great Witchingham’s Walcis Park ground as the venue for their quarter-final against Lincolnshire having made a successful first visit there earlier this month when they defeated Shropshire by nine wickets.

Slough’s Upton Cort Road ground is another venue that has been used by two counties – Berkshire and neighbouring Buckinghamshire each played a Trophy match there last season – and it has been chosen by Berkshire for their tie against Dorset.

Defending champions Berkshire used Slough for a National Counties T20 Super 12s tournament in May and they are due back there next month when Sussex visit for a Showcase fixture.

Cheshire's quarter-final against Devon will be played at Oxton’s Townfield Lane ground near Birkenhead which last hosted a Trophy match in 2018.

The ground, however, has been used by Cheshire since 1895, most recently for a T20 double-header against Northumberland in May when the scheduled venue, Alderley Edge, was waterlogged.
