Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher praised resurgent Argyle for extending their unbeaten League Two run following Juvhel Tsoumou's first goal for the greens since joining them on loan from Preston North End.
Fletcher said: "It was a big win for us. We will take confidence from being four unbeaten - two wins and two draws - and look ahead to Hereford on Friday now.
"We could have won by more and made it easier for ourselves in the last 10 minutes but we will take 1-0, another clean sheet and another three points.
"We will keep our foot on the pedal and make sure we don't drop off."
Target man Tsoumou rose to power home a header at the far post from Paul Wotton's fourth minute free kick from wide out on the right as the greens edged four points clear of the relegation zone.
Minutes later left back Robbie Williams saw his thumping 20-yard free kick come back off the foot of the post while Tsoumou sent a spectacular overhead kick over the bar at the start of the second half.
However it was not all one-way traffic as Argyle full back Durrell Berry and skipper Simon Walton both made goal-line clearances as Bradford threw everything forward in a bid to restore parity.
Matt Duke made a top drawer save to flap out Wotton's 83rd minute pile drive, which was destined for the top corner.
