It was Boon time for St Dennis at Lux Park tonight as Gavin Boon smashed in a dramatic injury time goal to secure all three points.
Boon took advantage of a poor attempted clearance by Liskeard centre half Dylan Peel to fire his shot from the edge of the penalty area into the roof of the net.
Boon had also been involved in St Dennis’s opening goal after 28 minutes, providing an excellent through ball to set Jacob Rowe clear and he finished with aplomb.
Liskeard, who earned rave reviews for Friday’s 3-1 win over Bodmin, were far from their best and it took them until the 65th minute to equalise when Tom Savigar curled in a direct free kick.
Home supporters then expected the Blues to go on to win but despite long spells of pressure, they were thwarted by an excellent rearguard action by St Dennis.
And the visitors always looked a threat on the break and from set pieces, with Liskeard keeper Luke Gwillam pulling off several fine saves.
But he could do nothing about Boon’s winner, which was celebrated in style by the visitors.
