Curtis Damerell hit a hat-trick as Torpoint moved to the top of the Peninsula East table in emphatic style on a cold and blustery afternoon at The Mill.
Damerell broke the deadlock in the 15th minute and completed home scoring and his hat-trick just after the hour.
Skipper John Heveran headed Torpoint’s second goal and Callum Thompson was also on target for the Point.
Torrington - playing their first game in seven weeks - gained some consolation from a late Tom Davey goal.
The result sets things up nicely for Saturday’s Boxing Day derby against Millbrook, three points behind their neighbours with four games in hand.
With a couple of dry days forecast at the end of the week, The Mill pitch should be ok, having survived the monsoon rain which wiped out most weekend football in Cornwall.
Torpoint rarely looked in trouble against mid-table Torrington after Damerell broke the deadlock with a cultured finish from 15 yards after good work by the outstanding Charlie Hardcastle.
Hardcastle also provided the assist for the second goal, with his corner met by Heveran at the near post with a glancing header which curled into the far corner.
Torpoint made it 3-0 just before the break with Damerell scoring from the spot after a Torrington defender had been harshly adjudged to have handled a ball which was blasted at him from close range.
Thompson increased the home side’s lead with a fine finish and Damerell was in the right place to complete his treble on 64 minutes.
